After coming across this site... La-Z-LinkI made this post... La-Z-Link And have decided to do a little comparison for everyone here. Basically, the comparison will first be this visual one posted here. In about a month when I hit the dyno, I will be able to give a power comparison test as well to really see which one makes more power. There have been previous tests like this done before, but not with the newer version of Apexi's filter, which is supposedly suppose to be much better and have a much lower pressure drop which you can see with this below graph (supposedly atleast.....this graph is on the Apexi box however so take it for what it's worth).
One point about the JWT filter which was brought up by a member was that he kept getting sand in his intake pipes when using a JWT filter. (He lives in the desert). I found this a little hard to believe, but sure enough, there are some pretty large holes in the JWT filter media. If held up to the light, you can see many holes in it which particles the size of grains of sand could easily fit through (That can't be good).
With the Apexi Filter on the other hand, there is not a single pin hole anywhere in the filter media itself.
One visual positive for the JWT filter has always been the fact that it has an internal veturi style inlet to obviously help smooth airflow into the intake pipe. Now, the newest filter from Apexi also has that same thing it in, but takes it one step further by having a conical shaped object inside the filter at the very top. The next two picture show what I am talking about. This theoretically, should help guide the air into the intake pipe even better than just the venturi ring on one side.

One big plus the JWT has going for it however is the size of it. It is definatley much larger. How much of a power difference does this make though? I don't know yet. I will be able to tell you what kind of difference it makes at the 400 rwhp level in about a month or two, then at the ~600rwhp level in about 3 months after that. I'm interested to see the results myself. Yes that's a flower pot on the JWT filter. It wa ssuppose to go on my car but now I have MAP instead of MAF and there is no need for the flower pot mod.
One thing also worth mentioning is that the JWT filter can be cleaned and reused when dirty, while with the Apexi, you just have to fork out another $60 a filter for a replacement. Some might mind this. I personally don't, cause spending $120 every couple years on new filters isn't that bad IMO...plus then it is also brand new. Another thing worth mentioning is that the oil on the JWT filter can help against some rain...while the Apexi will just suck it up, causing you to possibly destroy your motor. For those that drive in the rain, this filter is probably not for you, unless you came up with a good shroud for it. And just for shits and giggles a little something I just finished doing with my water pipe to put the Defi sensor on it. I'll sand the welds smooth tonight, and it goes to the chromers tommorow morning. The thing sticking out of it is the tap used to thread it.
